- Torsen LSD
The factory limited-slip differential option. Greatly improves the driving experience.
- Painted wing & bumperettes:
Oddly, unless an option to match the body color was chosen, Porsche 968 rear wings were installed on the car painted black. This car has the body-color option, The black rubber rear bumperettes have been painted white as well.
- RS Barn exhaust and chip:
High-flow, lightweight alternative to the stock system- header to tailpipe, with accompanying custom ECU chip. Saves lots of weight. Big power/torque gains.
- Airbox Modification:
Bob Larson and Dave Greimann collaborated this simple and inexpensive mod which produces over 10 extra HP / 7 lb/ft torque on the dyno and eliminates an annoying throttle-on 'sag' these cars exhibited. Total cost: roughly $50.00!!!
- 944 Racing short shift:
This mod is no longer in production, although other manufacturers produce a similar product. Shortens the shift throw without modifying the shift lever. Fun!
- KLA strut brace & swaybar brackets:
Two inexpensive modifications which greatly improve cornering performance. Brief tech articles on both products are available at the site.
- 17" 996 twists w/ Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires, Zimmerman drilled brake rotors, PBR Metalmaster brake pads:
My car came with factory 16" wheels, which I use for winter driving. The factory 17" 968 rims proved difficult to obtain on the used market, so I purchased a set of wheels originally supplied on the Porsche 996. The Goodyear Eagle tires are supergrippy, quiet and sexy-looking! Brake rotors have been upgraded to the Zimmerman drilled product (mostly for cosmetic reasons), and low-dust high performance Metalmaster brake pads installed.
- 930S-type steering wheel:
Nice sporty leather wheel styled after that used on the Porsche 930S. Places horn button where it can be found, and looks like it belongs on a car of this type, unlike the minvan wheel supplied by the factory.
- Plated engine bolts:
A cosmetic innovation of mine which replaces the corrosion-prone factory cam-cover bolts with nickel-plated variants.
- ROW front lenses:
The front turn-signal lens used in the Rest Of World eliminates a tiny useless US-standard black rubber bumperette, wrapping the entire area in amber for a cleaner look.
- Custom audio with iPod:
Alpine CDA-9856 head unit with integrated iPod control; Infinity and Kenwood loudspeakers, Bazooka powered subwoofer.
- Keyless entry:
A nifty little mod, engineered by Dave Greimann, installs a Bulldog 1702 keyless entry and remote hatch release system.
- Custom lighting:
Brighter, whiter Sylvania SilverStar bulbs at the fog and headlight positions. I have also retrofitted LED's into the center brake light cluster.
